Dead Grass and Drainage Problems Fixed in Chino Hills

Dead patches and standing water are two of the most frustrating lawn problems to deal with - and they usually share the same root cause. The grade is off. That's exactly what we were dealing with here. We stripped everything out, pulled 5 inches of existing soil, and regraded the entire lawn area to correct the drainage slope. No shortcuts. The crew worked through the full demo and re-grading by hand, moving a serious amount of material to get the elevation right before anything else happened.

Once the grade was set, we brought in a custom soil blend - not whatever happens to be on the truck. The right soil composition matters a lot for sod establishment, especially in the inland Southern California heat. After that, we ran irrigation first. Two new zones went in to make sure every corner of the lawn gets consistent, even water coverage. Getting irrigation dialed in before the sod goes down is non-negotiable for long-term success.

The finish was drought-tolerant sod, laid out tight and smooth across the full area. The new irrigation zones kicked on right away, and the coverage speaks for itself - edge to edge, no dry spots, no gaps. It's the kind of result you only get when the work underneath is done correctly from the start.
